Exclusive Eric Boullier Q&A: Performance push will begin in Barcelona McLaren and Honda have already taken great strides since the opening race of the season, but according to racing director Eric Boullier the real thrust of their development work will come on stream at round five in Barcelona. In an exclusive interview the Frenchman maps out McLaren's future plans and explains why the team could yet shock the paddock in 2015, even if their current form isn't up to scratch... Q: Eric, is the word catastrophe in your vocabulary? Eric Boullier: Haha. Yes it is, but not in my racing world! Q: Some people might challenge that this season... EB: A lot of people pin their expectations on the past McLaren-Honda relationship. But it is almost impossible to be successful again in year one of a new partnership - and we don't want to compare anyway. Honda came back to F1 and they have their own strategy. They have a strong, long-term commitment. They have ...

O dia da McLaren: Alonso e Jenson

ALONSO SHOWS PACE BUT BUTTON STRUGGLES IN BAHRAIN The McLaren-Honda drivers had two very different days in Bahrain, with Fernando Alonso having the better of the running after Jenson Button was hampered by issues in both first and second practice. Alonso placed the McLaren inside the top ten for the first time in 2015 in first practice, and then followed that up by taking eleventh in the second session, and felt the team are continuing their upward swing of getting closer to the midfield pack. “Today I had a very smooth day, and I was happy with the car in every condition, so tomorrow we just need to make sure we optimise the performance of the car and try to get a good result,” insisted Alonso. “Still, today is only Friday, and we saw in Shanghai that we had a decent performance on the Friday but then not so good on the Saturday – due to the fact other people were running more fuel than us on the Friday. “Even so, we can see that we’re getting closer and closer...

Vet...

"Feeling good"

Imagem
"It was a good day today. The afternoon session wasn't very useful as the conditions are so hot and really quite different to what we see in the evening - which is of course when qualifying and the race will be held. That makes the second session very valuable and we learned a lot - for example that Ferrari are very good on the long runs. On qualifying laps we look quicker but on race pace they are really strong so we will have to do a lot of work tonight to find the perfect setup. Tyre wise it's all been pretty straightforward. Both compounds are robust - it's just their absolute pace that should be a factor. Qualifying will be important as we saw in the last few races. But I'm feeling good about my pace on one lap and the long runs too so confidence is high." Uma pole ia ser legal, né? By lu

Mercedes lideram segundo treino do dia

By lu
