Franciacorta, Italy — Sunday 28 September, 2014: After a promising opening day in round ten of the FIA World Rallycross Championship presented by Monster Energy in Franciacorta yesterday, Albatec Racing backed it up with an equally strong performance today, with Jacques Villeneuve sixth overall in the final heat, with the fourth fastest individual lap time. Two great starts by the former F1 World Champion, in his debut season in rallycross, allowed the French Canadian to push his Peugeot 208 to the limit, powering the two-litre, 16v powerhouse to double race wins. From the huge 38 car entry, that included the cream of rallycross racers from around the globe, the Indycar World Series Champion clinched an easy lights-to-flag race victory this morning on the freshly watered 1.4km track near Milan, but it was his second qualifying race this afternoon that saw a return to the form that netted him the fastest overall lap time in Norway earlier in the year. Jacques Villeneuve, Driver, Albatec Racing #25: “It’s a very frustrating end to the weekend after we fought so hard in the opening two heats, to put us sixth. The fuel tank was ripped off over a jump, which has never happened before and although the team worked hard to try and repair the damage in between the heats, there just wasn’t time. “We’ve been here before, we’ve had some bad luck in other races, but to be running so high in front of my home supporters is particularly disappointing.” Fonte: emailmarketing.createsend.co.uk   É, Jacques não tem tido sorte. Sempre acontece algo que acaba por atrapalhar o seu desenvolvimento, desta vez problemas com a tampa do tanque de combustível. Uma pena, afinal, era no Canadá e ele ficou de fora. A vitória do evento que foi o primeiro realizado fora da Europa no Mundial de RallyCross foi vencido pelo querido Petter Solberg.  Beijinhos, Ludy

Villeneuve Forced Out With Puncture In Finland

Kouvola, Finland — Sunday 29 June, 2014: For the second successive event Albatec Racing’s chances of progressing to the FIA World Rallycross Championship finals were scuppered by a puncture, after Jacques Villeneuve’s Peugeot 208 sustained first lap damage in heat four of World RX of Finland today. The former F1 World Champion made contact with Alexander Hvaal at turn two, and the result was a front right puncture on his 600bhp two litre 16v Supercar, which cost him around two seconds a lap and prevented him from challenging for heat victory.  The 1995 Indycar World Series Champion’s hopes of reaching his first semi-final were dented by an earlier incident, but this time involving Timmy Hansen’s Peugeot which barrel-rolled in heat three causing a re-run which subsequently knocked Jacques out of the top 12. On actual race times Jacques’ performance, in which he finished third, would have seen him maintain a qualifying position, however notional times were awarded to the race f...

Villeneuve Well Placed To Qualify In World RX Of Finland

Kouvola, Finland — Saturday 28 June, 2014: Albatec Racing’s Jacques Villeneuve is well placed to qualify for tomorrow’s World RX of Norway after another strong pace in the opening two heats puts him joint 12th in the intermediate standings. The fourth round of the FIA World Rallycross Championship, held at the stunning Kouvola track, saw the former F1 World Champion power his two-litre, 16v Albatec Peugeot 208 to second place and the 13th fastest overall race time in heat one. In the second round of heats held in changeable conditions, the former Indycar World Series Champion took fourth, and a respectable race time, however as track conditions improved the subsequent heat times tumbled, pushing the Indy 500 winner back to 14th. The joint results are enough to see the French-Canadian in joint 12th place though, with the results of tomorrow’s two final heats helping to determine the final grid line-up for the two six-car semi finals. Tomorrow’s track action resumes with an ho...

Hellish End to Norway Sees Puncture End Villeneuve’s Semi Final Chances

Hell, Norway — Sunday 15 June, 2014: It was a hellish end to Albatec Racing’s bid for a third successive semi final place in the 2014 FIA World Rallycross Championship in Norway today, when Jacques Villeneuve collected a puncture in the final heat, dropping him out of contention for the top 12 places. Continuing the form that placed him in a qualifying position overnight, a strong pace and third place in heat three put him tenth going into the final four-lap qualifier that would determine the grids for the two six-car semi finals. In the race he was looking good for another respectable race time, until a front right puncture on his two litre, 16v Peugeot 208 brought the hopes of a first semi final place for the former Indy 500 winner crashing down. With just the top 12 fastest drivers progressing through, Jacques was placed 15th, the former Indycar World Series Champion left frustrated to have just missed the chance of progressing through to a place in the six car final.
