Ferrari confirms Räikkönen for 2016  

Ferrari has ended the speculation over the future of Kimi Räikkönen by announcing that the Finn will remain with the team in 2016, alongside Sebastian Vettel, ahead of this weekend's Belgian Grand Prix. 

Räikkönen raced for Ferrari between 2007 and 2009, claiming the world title during his first year with the team. 

Following a period out of the sport and a two year stint with Lotus, Räikkönen re-joined Ferrari at the start of 2014, but could manage only 12th in the championship. 

Räikkönen continued with Ferrari in 2015 but Vettel's performances created doubt over Räikkönen's future at the team, as rumours linked Valtteri Bottas with a switch to the outfit. 

However, Ferrari has confirmed that it has taken up the option in Räikkönen's contract to retain him for a further season. 

"Scuderia Ferrari announces that it has renewed its technical and racing agreement with Kimi Räikkönen," read a short statement from Team Principal Maurizio Arrivabene. 

"The driver line-up next season will still consist of the Finnish driver and Sebastian Vettel."

É, tiveram que ficar com o finalndês né Arrivabene? Que tristeza para você!!!! Aposto que foi porque os pilotos que vocês queriam pediram dinheiro demais ou exigiram muito. Duvido que a opção de permanecer com Kimi foi espontânea. Whatever...

Confesso que não esperava por isto mesmo. Estava realmente pensando que seria o último ano. Tinha certeza. Enfim. Mais um ano de Ferrari.
