One option - the most strongest one - as Kimi Räikkönen's employer next season vanished from the scenario when the switch from Lotus to Red Bull didn't come true.

When Mark Webber announced in the end of summer that he was going to retire, Dietrich Mateschitz let understand that Räikkönen was highest on the shortlist as Vettel's new teammate.

For some reason Mateschitz didn't take the opportunity in the end.

Lotus is still holding on to their Finnish star tightly. However he still has other options left.

Räikkönen himself is very calm and in a good mood after the GP3-test, although there is no solution about next season to be expected in Belgian Belgian Grand Prix. Räikkönen was asked in Hungary about what will decide his future.

– There isn't just one thing that decides it. It's the whole package that counts and also what I feel is right for myself. Whatever my decision will be it might sound foolish to some, although it is what I feel is best for me. I don't have any idea of what is going to happen. I want to wait and see what comes, but hopefully whatever decision I take will also be the right decision, Räikkönen stated.

Since Kimi is known for hiding small hints in his comments, I asked him who he refers to when saying that some might think his decision is foolish.

– I didn't mean anything more than what I said. There is always someone who thinks that I shouldn't go to drive somewhere where I decide to go. Everyone have their own opinions. There were no more hints in that, Räikkönen explained.

He will make his decision completely independently.

– Nobody else can decide it on my behalf. I have never been taken anywhere where I would not had decided to go myself.

This is also confirmed by manager Steve Robertson, who has taken care of Räikkönen's contract matters during his whole career.

– Kimi has always completely walked his own paths - starting from Sauber.
