New era, old pains

Turun Sanomat 23.1.2012 23:33:40

On Monday it has been 813 days since Kimi Räikkönen put his foot on the pedal in a F1-car for the last time. So it's no wonder that everything didn't start going immediately from the old memory.

The first testing day with a two year old Renault and Pirelli tyres was only to get used to the G-forces, which you find more than enough on Valencia's Mickey Mouse -track.

Just as he was packing his gear and heading for his testing, Räikkönen heard that the 'intelligent stablilizer' which media people had already praised as the secret weapon of Lotus, was banned.

FIA changed their interpretation and classified it as a movable part that changes the position of suspensions while the car is moving and hence affects the car's aerodynamics, which again is against the rules.

I can console Räikkös-fans by telling that according to the media people from Lotus they didn't lose anything irreplaceable.

At least the new Lotus has already cleared the very strict crash test whereas it took two attempts from Ferrari.

In Ferrari they are waiting in Maranello for FIA's reply about this Lotus-idea. They have also been prepared for a negative reply since they have informed the Italian reporters by telling them that the advantage of a ride height stabilizer would in any way be small.

813 dias. Meu Deus! Não tinha parado para fazer as contas. Como o tempo voa!!! #ficoassustada

Acho fofo que depois que fizemos aquela entrevista com Heikki Kulta em 2010 (link aqui), ele se preocupa com a gente. Informa e menciona os fãs do Iceman com o intuito de nos tranquilizar. Acho isto muito legal da parte dele!
