Semana Kimi Räikkönen 2011 (2011 Kimi Räikkönen Special Week): by Antonio Magno

Well, my second special guest for this special week to celabrate Kimi's birthday is my dear Italian friend, Antonio Magno.

Tony is the only friend I have that is a Ferrari supporter and doesn't hate Kimi, in fact, he's a Kimi supporter and every single time I think about how rude and cruel the tifosi were with Räikkönen during 2008 and 2009, I remember how generous and loyal Tony always is when he talks about Kimi.

So guys, take a moment to appreciate this special participation for Kimi's birthday at Octeto because is from a dear friend, someone who helped me a lot since we became friends. Thanks a lot for being here again Tony, thanks for your kind words, as always, for you support during the moments I needed and of course, for being such a great tifoso and a loyal Kimi Räikkönen fan. Grazie mille!!!!

2011 Kimi Räikkönen Special Week by Antonio Magno

For every huge fan like me, Formula 1 is not only a sport to follow on TV. Personally I have ever thought it is more than that, I consider it like a way of life. Apart the emotions it can give me during a race, Formula 1 influences me about a lot of thing in my life: driving style, the clothes I dress, my friendships, the things I do when I have free time to spend and many other things (even my first love was a F1 lover like me!).

So you can wonder it's not a surprise that I am a modelling enthusiast of F1 car mainly. It has been ever a dream of mines collecting those so little but so beautiful things to look. I bought the first model in 2007, a Ferrari F2004 of Michael Schumacher, scale 1/18. But there is a proverb which says "the more you eat the more you want to eat", so in last years my collection grew. At the moment, my collection counts 50 models (you can see entirely it
here).

Obviously, being a great Kimi's fan, I could not resist to buy some model about his career in Ferrari. So this year I wanna celebrate the Kimi's Week showing my Kimi's models.

FERRARI F2007 - 1/18 - Hot Wheels
A special model, because every time I look at it, it reminds me a special season, a lot of emotions, who every Kimi's fan will never forget of course. But apart the epic success that it can remember, I think it is one of best looking car made in the history of F1, especially in this version, with the same paint used since the Monaco Grand Prix to celebrate the 60th years of Ferrari foundation. A masterpiece!

FERRARI F2007 - 1/43 - Ixo Models
The same car mentioned before (fixed on a Minichamp display cabinet, to protect it from the dust), in a lower scale and in a cheaper version, with the aerodynamic updates introduced since the French GP. But "parked" in a different place: the desk of my office (Kimi is everywhere!).

FERRARI F2008 - 1/43 - Hot Wheels
A nice car, not so good to look (and remember too) like the F2007. Enzo Ferrari was used to say "A car is beautiful when it wins", so suddenly it isn't beautiful, especially for Kimi. In fact, for various reasons (team managment, technical development, tyre's temperature trouble, a ECU made by McLaren...), Kimi had not a great feeling in the second half of that strange season. Best and worst moments of this car? No doubt, the same race, Spa 2008.

FERRARI F60 - 1/43 - Hot Wheels
Probably an enigmatic car, hard to drive, hard to develop, hard about everything. And suddenly, the last F1 car driven by our Finnish hero. But, despite all the bad things around himself (like the rumours about his firing), Kimi gave his best anyway, like few drivers did until now. Never seen something of so professional in F1. And he won a race, yeah, he did it. And he was crowned The King of Spa. Hoping forever.

FERRARI 430 SCUDERIA - 1/18 - Hot Wheels
Yes, it isn't a racing car, I know. First of all, I think it is the best and the most beautiful car ever made. My unrecheable dream. No Sat-Navigation System, no Stereo, just power (510 HP, 0-100 kmts/h in 3.4 secs) and passion, like every Ferrari GT car should be. Personally developed in part by Michael Schumacher, it was presented in the end of 2007, after the F1 world title won by Kimi. Many people when they look at it ask me "why didn't you get the red painted version, like every Ferrari model you own?" Because Kimi drove this car painted like that, on the Fiorano circuit, while he was guest in the finnish show called Ajoneuvos... Here's the link, have fun!

CITROEN C4 WRC – 1/43 – Ixo Models
Well, I have to be honest. I never agreed with Kimi about his switch to WRC. Of course his choice was very courageous, and advised by his Finnish heart... we know rally is in their blood. But I think if you are one of best F1 driver of last ten years, if you are so strong, talented and cold, you have to use at the best possible way your talent, absolutely, at every cost! Anyway, despite my theory, 2 weeks ago I’ve bought this model, the car used by Kimi during the Rally of Sweden, first round of 2010 championship. Result apart, I will never forget that image where Kimi, stuck in the snow, shovelling he looks smiling and thinking “Oh, life in WRC doesn’t look so easier like I thougt!”.

So these are my Kimi's models, showed to celebrate his 32th Birthday. I hope this section will grow next year. It would be great getting a Peugeot 908...

Many and many thanks to Octeto Blog's staff (you rock!) and particularly to my dear friend Ludmila who gave me the chance to join again! Happy Birthday Iceman!
