The favourites - Neste Oil Rally Finland 2010

The rally people in Jyväskylä have two favourites above all others. They are not Mikko Hirvonen or Jari-Matti Latvala.

Of course the audience also cheers for Hirvonen and Latvala but the rally people give the absolutely biggest cheers to Kimi Räikkönen and Juha Kankkunen. A champion's status clearly has some substance.

During a couple of days they have sold Räikkönen's fan gear in Jyväskylä more than anyone else's during earlier years. Kimi has in this sense even beaten Marcus Grönholm himself who has always been almost unbeatable in Jyväskylä.

They have put stands in front of Ford's tent but a wall of people in front of Citroen's junior -tent just builds up by itself when Räikkönen shows up. For the audience it's enough if Kimi waves to them. They don't demand or expect more from the Iceman.

Hirvonen and Latvala have of course the chances to become the audience's number one favourites in the next years but before that they should obviously win the championship. Jyväskylä has the world's best audience but also the world's most demanding rally audience.
