Jacques Villeneuve: Results from Saint-Dié des Vosges

The fifth round of this year’s Andros Trophy got underway in Saint-Dié des Vosges this weekend, and Jacques Villeneuve was back on track with the Skoda team to put on a great show for the crowds.

The French-Canadian gave a strong performance in the first race to take a solid ninth place finish. In qualifying for the second race, Villeneuve achieved his highest ever position in one of the qualifying heats, and though a retirement in the final dropped him back into ninth place, it was another good run from the former F1 World Champion.

Speaking about his participation in the event, Villeneuve said: “I was delighted to finish fifth in one of the qualifying heats. I’m still learning, but I get as much fun as ever out of driving in this Trophy even if it’s true that I’m doing so in ideal conditions. I’m not battling for the title, I don’t ask myself too many questions and I exchange a lot of information with Olivier (Panis). I have to make sure I don’t damage the Škoda as there’s a lot at stake for it. I’m delighted at the prospect of probably teaming up with them in the Stade de France.”

The next round of the Andros Trophy will take place next weekend at Super-Besse (Clermont-Ferrand) on Saturday 29th January.
